April 28: back porch needs some tweaks

The front entrance is taking shape.

Also adding the roof plywood.

The gable roof over Alex's room.

Looking down the stairwell.  The upper part is tricky and will need some special engineered wood.

From the new master bath looking into the walk-in closet.

The new master bath towards the shower.

The master bed room.  The window and door to the balcony are framed in.  You'll see those from the outside as being cut out.

Looking through the bathroom wall from the master bedroom.

Down the main hall. The roof is not yet on.

More roof work.

Saturday morning visit after swim practice.  This is in Alex's room.

The front entrance has more.  The gable roof is on.  The arch is really taken shape and the window above the arch is drawn in.

Same pic of the main hall as earlier, but now the roof plywood is on!

The new master bedroom window and door are now cut out.

Stairs from the laundry room.  You can see the tricky upper landing that's going to require the engineered wood.

More of the stairs...

The entry arch from the front door.  The window above the arch is drawn in.

April 24: More roof and second floor framing

Lot's of progress.  Got over late.  It's about 7:40pm.  The camera was on flash mode.  Anyway, here the roof plywood is going on.  The gables are being added 'California style' i.e. on top of the hip roof.  Odd, but it's normal practice.

The front left with it's own gable.

Cali in her new room.  The window is boarded up for protection.  The roof is on.  The ceiling joists are not yet in.

Cali again in her room.  The big beam is at the ceiling height.

The redone roof rafters in the kitchen.  The rectangle is for the new skylight.

From the back.  Doesn't look much different.

The driveway side.  More roof rafters.  That's about all.

Another view of the front looking into the living room.

Cali at the top of the stairs.  We need to use a short ladder to get to the second floor from the stair landing.

The view out the second floor window. Soon this will be blocked by the new roof.

Second floor framing.  This is the master bath looking towards the shower.

The old second floor bath had some water and bug damage. Not much though.

The master bedroom on the second floor. The window and door framing are shown. The door will lead to a balcony.

The roof above the girls bedrooms.  It might rain again tomorrow.

April 18: Clear weather means good progress

Beth and Jose have a birthday today!

After the celebration Jose gets back to the stairs.

Matt and Jose work on stair issues.

Beth is trying out the stairs up to the first landing.

The kitchen ceiling rafters needed to be removed to be reconfigured for the updated skylight configuration.

The front entry is taking shape.

I believe that is Ruben on the roof.

The entry arch and the upper window.

More roof rafters have been added.

More of the roof business from the driveway.

We also have a bee swarm in an orange tree.  It's been there for a few days now.

Showing the progress from the backyard.

April 14: After the big storm...

The inside of the old master bedroom is getting framed in.  This is the stairwell.  The new master bedroom upstairs is completely empty.

This is Beth's office.

The back porch cover is being started.  There might be some issue with the placement of the pillars.

The stucco has been removed for the laundry door and window.

The holes for the new windows have been cut and framed.

The front has a bit more plywood.  It's still covered to protect it from the storms.

The living room roof rafters can been seen intermingled with the ceiling rafters.
