January 12, 2013: wallboard finishing and tile

It's been very cold and the wallboard finishers are having difficulties with drying.
The master bathroom shower tile was set.  This allows the glass block windows to be installed flush with the tiles.  Which, in turn, allows the stucco team to complete the outside of the house.

On Friday we met with the stair builder.  We talked about a lot of things and worked out the details of the installation.  I'm not sure when they will start, but I think it's in two to three weeks.

We also met with the concrete guy.  We are pouring the front entry and the side entry.  He says there is a minimum load which means we'll probably also  pour the laundry room step and maybe the pads for the air conditioner compressors (there are two of them).  I think the minimum load is 6 yards.

Lastly, we met with the tile guy, Sandon of Ashley Tile.  We talked about tile lays.  He is very detailed and thinks a good deal about how the tiles will 'flow'.

The family (aka Great) room had more finishing.  They've added a propane heater and are running a fan.

Beth showing off the girls bath.  The tub/shower.  The cutout under the window is the niche.  Although the tub will Sandon does not use the pre-fabricated boards anywhere.  He floats his backing by hand onto a wire lath. It's pretty impressive.

The tub.  There will be a granite top that will have about 6" of ledge from the wall to the tub.  The outside will be similar.

The master bathroom shower wall is being tiled.  It looks very nice!

Jason (I think that's his name) has completed up to the decorative trim.

I came by the next day to check on it.  Wow, it's installed (except the trim).  Sandon has started preparations for the glass block windows.

This is in the shower area.  The green circle is the controls. There is a niche on the left and the bench below.  The bench will be granite.  The south facing glass block window will let in a lot of light.
